A North Bay CU member was recently scammed thousands of dollars by a someone spoofing our name and number to appear on the phone. Scammers can and often do this to pose as representatives, and there‘s not much any financial institution can do to prevent this.
Bottom line: We will never call you and ask for your account info, PIN, password or Social Security number for any reason.
It’s easy to protect yourself
• If you did not initiate the communication, and receive a call or text from anyone claiming to be from North Bay CU (or any financial institution), simply hang up and call our branch directly.
• Never give out any personal information to anyone who calls or texts you. Scammers often create a false urgency to trick victims into revealing personal information, so never be pressured.
• Assume any unsolicited call is a scam. Hang up and call the institution back using a number you can verify on a bill, statement, or an official website.
